I've had the pleasure of playing 1 "competitive" game of Scrabble, with my cousins-in-law, and it was an eye-opening experience. Until that day, I didn't know "uh", "ah" or "oh" were even words, but I was to my horror informed that they were per the Official Scrabble Dictionary. I watched as my opponents slowly burned off any opportunities for expansion, until the board was a mass of monosyllabic utterances. I've played Illuminati, Tribune, Race into Space, Kremlin…you name it, I've been ground into a pulp playing each in turn. I've watched Bohnanza between 2 grown men who never traded a single bean. No game is too dirty or low. But I will never play a game like the "Prison Scrabble" I played that day.
